John & Katie O’Mailia
We think John might have been one of the original disciples because as
the story goes, John was mending his spinning reel and preparing
some power bait one day when he heard the voice of Jesus call
him saying "Follow me and I will make you a fisher of men.” John has responded to that call (even if that’s not
exactly how it happened), and has committed himself to the
training and ministry of reaching and discipling men in the name
of Jesus Christ. John still goes fishing, but he usually has a man alongside him
that he is encouraging or mentoring in a faith walk with his
Lord Jesus Christ.
Katie and John were married in 1977 and have two children, Sarah
and Elijah. Katie shares the passion for God and His Word as John does.
They both have a great compassion for the lost and the
growing. Katie's
friends consider her nurturing, spiritually sensitive and
discerning. She is warm and compassionate toward those outside
the faith and is an active witness to them. She enjoys serving by cooking for others and caring for
children. John and
Katie are a special gift to the Mission and to the rural
community of Dixon to which they minister.
